What it can do in Open Dental
- Find and create patients
- Matches on name, date of birth and phone. Creates a new patient record when there is no match, with the details the caller gave.
- Check provider and operatory availability
- Reads live availability at the moment of the call — not a nightly sync that goes stale by lunchtime.
- Book by appointment type and duration
- Uses your own appointment types and their real durations, so a Comp Exam gets 60 minutes and a Limited Exam gets 30.
- Respect your scheduling rules
- Minimum notice, how far out, daily caps, blocked time ranges, and provider restrictions all apply before a slot is ever offered.
- Write notes to the appointment
- Puts what the caller actually said onto the appointment, so your team reads it before the patient walks in.
Two requirements before you start
You need Open Dental version 21.4 or newer, and an active Open Dental support plan — the API menu does not appear without one. If you are unsure, our onboarding checks both and tells you before you pay us anything.
